Dr Richard Tuck PhD, CPhys, FInstP
Founder and CTO |

Dr Tuck has a world
reputation for innovation in electron sources and devices. He made key advances
in both the practical development and theoretical understanding of high current
density thermionic cathodes. He set-up the UK's Ministry of Defence centre of
excellence for cathode technology at EMI-Varian, during which they measured
inter-atomic distances of the activating adsorbates on the heterogeneous and
polycrystalline cathode surfaces – a world first. Dr Tuck became EMI-Varian's
Chief Scientist, also managing the Applied Physics Group at CRL, where he was
responsible for many programmes, including a high intensity electrodeless back
light for LCD's. He is the author or co-author of over twenty patents, many
papers and even more confidential reports to the UK MoD, DoD in the USA and the
